Turkey Itinerary – Marmaris, Ekincik, Kalkan, Kas

MARMARIS: Situated within a large bay surrounded by pine-clad hills, Marmaris is an ideal starting point for your Turkish cruise.  This yachting center has a sophisticated marina, excellent waterfront restaurants, lively nightlife, an Ottoman castle and traditional covered bazaar.

EKINCIK: A beautiful deep bay about 18 miles east of Marmaris surrounded by pine trees and spectacular sheer cliffs.  This friendly community is home to prolific bird life and an excellent restaurant.

TURKEY GULET YACHT CHARTER DALYAN LYCIAN TOMBS BLUE CRUISEDALYAN / CAUNOS: Take a riverboat up the Dalyan Delta , past a backdrop of Cliffside tombs to the ancient city of Caunos.  Ruins include a theatre, bath house, Byzantine church, and market place.  The Acropolis above provides a magnificent view of the area.  Dalyan literally means ‘fish trap’ and in Dalyan Village several restaurants specialize in mullet and bass dishes.

GULF OF FETHIYE: This large gulf features olive groves to the north and pine forests overhanging the waters on the other sides.  Explore the quiet bays and beautiful anchorages:
Ruin Bay – Swim in the clear waters inside the ancient bath house of Cleopatra.
Wall Bay – This cove has a remarkable solid stone wall on its southern end.
Sarsala – The best anchorage here is in a cove on the south side where the slopes plummet dramatically to the sea and an old marble column marks its entrance.
Deep Bay – A tiny bay with a unique taverna and wonderful food cooked in clay ovens.  Fish, swim and snorkel in the clear waters.
Tomb Bay – A magnificent enclosed bay with ancient rock tombs.

GOCEK: This village is a popular yachting center.  Despite its growth, it has managed to keep its Turkish village atmosphere and has excellent restaurants.

FETHIYE: A bustling port ideal for replenishing supplies while exploring the market and shops.  Rock tombs of ancient Telmessus overlook the town.  The beautiful hidden Valley of Sakli Kent is just 30 kilometers from Fethiye.TURKEY YACHT GULET CHARTER FETHIYE OLUDENIZ BLUE CRUISE

GEMILER ADASI (Ship Island): Tie up to the ruins of an ancient city and visit Byzantine remains of several churches, houses, shops, water cisterns and a covered walkway.  The lagoon of Olu Deniz – the most photographed in Turkey – may be reached by local boat from Gemiler.

KALKAN: A small village of white washed houses and balconies draped with garlands of flowers.  From Kalkan visit the ancient sites of Patara, Xanthos and Letoon which are only accessible by land.TURKEY YACHT GULET CHARTER LYCIAN TOMBS BLUE CRUISE

KAS: One of the most picturesque and stylish ports along the coast with excellent waterside restaurants and a wonderful market.  On the hills behind the town floodlit Lycian rock tombs can be seen.  After Kas, sail through a chain of islands – some Greek and some Turkish – past Olu Burun, the site of the oldest known shipwreck.

APERLAE:  The ancient quay in Asar Bay provides interesting shards of Amphoras as well as marble columns to swim around.  Onshore visit the Lycian, Roman, Greek and Byzantine ruins of Aperlae.

KEKOVA: The gulf of Kekova is a spectacular place to explore the remains of a sunken city and Lycian tombs.  Climb the ruins of the Kekova castle for a breathtaking view.  Take a short sail to Gokoya, a completely deserted cove with no habitation in sight.  It is studded with ancient ruins and one can swim in the large cave.
